five foot two

I don't typically listen to pop music. I try to avoid the radio. I'm a big Vic Mensa and Andersan Paak fan. I like rap, indie music, and Spanish rock. But I try to be very open minded about what I listen to,  so when my best friend asked me to go see Lady Gaga with him at Wrigley, I said yes with just a little ounce of hesitation.

The weekend before we started school my three best friends and I headed to Wrigley. My friend Chris is the ultimate fan. He owns every magazine she's been on, all the merchandise she has ever created and all the music she's ever released- CD and vinyl. He says her music got him through some rough times and I think we can all relate that we have that one artist that spoke to us in some way or another. 

Anyways so we got to our seats at Wrigley and they were not that bad. We were in the 100's. Someone walked up to us and asked us if we could follow her. I looked over at my friends and we awkwardly agreed. I thought we were in trouble but we hadn't even done anything wrong. She then proceededs to tell us if we wanted to sit or stand while we watch Gaga...

Um, excuse me. Where is this going? 

She tells us that she works with the tour management and that she saw us and liked our outfits so she was giving my best friends and I free tickets for the pit.
You're telling me we paid $100 for average seats just to move right up next to the stage. Wow. 

So she gives us our wristbands and after screaming for about 3 minutes, we RUN down to the field. And I mean, sprint. 

We get down to the pit and its full of fans whose outfits easily surpass ours and everyone is freaking out because apparently they were also given free tickets. I met a guy who paid over $1000 for tickets in total and his original seats were almost nose-bleeds. The first pair of tickets he bought turned out to be fake and unfortunately got scammed out of hundreds for front row tickets. He had seen Gaga about 4 times before this concert. I felt like such a mediocre fan because I only know the words to a few songs from her latest album Joanne and that's about it. This guy, like so many others, went to extremes to be there that night.
Tonight, Lady Gaga is premiering her documentary on Netflix and as a new fan, I'm so excited to watch it.

Anyways, that night was probably the best way to end my summer. So basically, what I'm trying to tell you guys is never say no to any new opportunities. It might get you 5 feet from Lady Gaga. And to those who thinks she's weird or too extra, listen to her new album. She really is one of the most talented musicians in our time.
